The Eastern Cape Province has 37 local municipalities and two metropolitan municipalities, and has a population in excess of 7 Million people. Primary health services are rendered through 47 district hospitals, 18 provincially-aided hospital and 751 clinics in addition to 256 municipal clinics and 32 community health centres. Our customer FM Solutions was selected after a tender process to implement the Forcelink solution for facilities management on the property estate in 1 of the 4 regions.

The maintenance of the facilities vary and include electrical, mechanical, electronics, water and sanitation, storm water system, civils and general buildings. The project scope included:

  • Conducting an initial audit of all the facilities to compile room schedules and a comprehensive equipment register. This task included barcode tagging and registration of serial numbers on the system
  • Routine servicing (scheduled maintenance) and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment at the institutions;
  • Emergency repairs (unscheduled maintenance); replacement/upgrading of specified equipment and facilities;
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and be responsible for the efficient, effective, economical and satisfactory operations of the facilities;
  • Regular assessment of the conditions of the facilities and their systems as well as developing and implementing the facilities operations and preventative maintenance programs necessary to maintain, preserve and keep the facilities in
    good condition.
